As we move into the colder and wetter months the course committee would like to remind members to follow these guidelines. We want everyone to play as much golf of they can, safely and without damaging the course.
The winter course set up will be in place from 1st November. Preferred lies are already in operation.
What we do this winter has a bearing on the new playing season, 2025. The course will have a much better chance of a quick recovery in the Spring if we all follow these guidelines.
Please check the course status. There are 4 levels:
We encourage you to use individual playing mats whenever possible. This will help avoid ‘smashed divots’ and give you a consistent lie during the wet winter months. There is a choice of mats in the pro shop available to purchase.
As playing mats are optional you cannot use them in competitions nor for qualifying cards.
Here is the local rule:
"Due to the optional use and not compulsory use of the winter mats, scores are deemed not acceptable in competitions and general play.
Mats can still be used when playing socially and not returning a score through My England Golf etc."
Please repair pitch marks. To those that do, thank you. To those that can’t please ask someone to do it for you and for those that don’t please try it.
With wet fairways, divots rarely stay intact. Please collect as much as you can and use this to replace your divots.
When the winter route is in operation please follow the signs. This year we may ask players with power trolleys to periodically use the winter route to help protect the course.
There will be roped off areas when you will need to drop your ball to the side. Just walk in and get your ball. Please do not take trolleys into roped off areas.
If you can carry your bag, it is much appreciated.
Please leave trolleys and buggies well away from the greens complexes, bunker edges are soft as are the aprons.
Please use the paths.
